Where are the Malia'Cones Chapter meetings?
Malia'Cones Chapter Meetings are held at the LDS Church located at 2401 Legacy Drive in Plano, Texas, the same night as Boy Scout Round table. ( corner of Legacy and Quarry Chase on the north side of Legacy between Custer and Independence)
What time do the Malia'Cones Chapter meeting start and stop?
Chapter meeting start at 7:30 PM and are over by 9:00 PM.
Who can attend a Malia'Cones Chapter Meeting?
Anyone and all Order of the Arrow Member can attend an Order of the Arrow meeting, but only current (Current Dues Paid) members of the Order of the Arrow can have a voice at the meeting.
How do you become a member of the Order of the Arrow?
Members are elected by their units after meeting the requirements of qualification
for election which are:
1. Be a registered member of a Boy Scout Troop or Varsity Team under the
age of 21.
2. Be First Class Scout rank or higher in the Boy Scouts of America.
3. Be registered with a troop or team, have experienced fifteen (15) days
and nights of Boy Scout camping during a two-year period prior to the
election. The fifteen days and nights must include one, but no more
that one, long-term camp consisting of six (6) consecutive days
(including 5 nights) of resident camping, approved and under the
auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America. The balance
of the camping must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term
camps.
4. Have the approval of his unit leader prior to his election. The unit
leader must certify the candidate's Scouting spirit, his adherence
to the Scout Oath and Law, and participation in unit activities.
I see different arrows in Scouts that are in the Order of the Arrow, what do they represent?
The Order of the Arrow has what is know as levels (not a rank) in the order. The first is Ordeal Member which is what all members are once they complete their ordeal. After ten months of active membership in the Order of the Arrow, the Ordeal member can recommit or dedicate their membership of service by becoming a Brotherhood member . After two years of active membership as a Brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow, all Brotherhood members can be elected to the Vigil Honor .
How do I renew my membership in the Mikanakawa Lodge?
Renewal of membership is completing by printing the PDF registration form found on the lodge web site www.miki.org under Registration. Then mail to the address on the form with payment.
I was a member of the Mikanakawa Lodge as a Youth member. How do I rejoin the Lodge?
You can renew your membership the same way a current member does. However, you should check with the Lodge registration adviser to review the lodge records of your prior membership prior to submitting the Dues Payment Card.
I am a former member of the Mikanakawa Lodge, but the Lodge records do not show me as a prior member. What do I have to do to rejoin the Lodge?
This makes it a bit more difficult but not impossible. Although we have as extensive history of prior members, it is not a complete history. The easiest way is for you to rejoin the Lodge is for you to produce documentary (membership card) evidence of your prior membership.
I was a member of another Lodge and recently joined a local BSA unit. How do I transfer my membership to Mikanakawa Lodge?
The easiest way is to fill out a Mikanakawa Lodge Dues Payment Form and send it, along with the correct dues payment and evidence of prior membership to the address shown on the form. An official membership card is the preferred evidence of prior membership. Vigil Honor members MUST provide a copy of their Vigil Certificate or provide the lodge name, number and approximate date Vigil Honor was received so that it can be verified with the National OA office.
